So, You Want to Know How to NOT Preach?

It has been a while where I have listened to a sermon and just thought, "what?" I have never heard of Kerry Shook, but his most recent message, that you can watch here, he takes the account in Genesis and twists it so badly to talk about God creating a clean slate in your life.

Please, everyone that is learning to preach, or wants to know how to exegete the word of God, go and watch this sermon and do just the opposite. It is astonishing to watch and listen this guy take Genesis 1 and just make stuff up. I hope that his other sermons aren't as poorly prepared as this one is. Seriously brutal.

We need to make sure that we ask, everytime we sit down to study for preaching, "What does this passage say?" Not, "What do I want it to say?" But, what is the message that God is trying to convey to his New Testament church.
I have heard some pretty odd things preached in regards to Genesis 1, but this one is quite weird.

This is "seeker" sensitive preaching and you are right about twisting the Truth of God's Word.

Have you not noticed, has it not been made clear that the promises were made to Abraham and his "seed" not "seeds"?

This guy makes the narrow so easy and broad a school bus can drive through it!

God isn't into change. He did that already. He is into Christ and Him crucified:::>

Heb 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
